Day 20 – Mason Bee House From Reclaimed Wood

 Giving Old Wood New Life:

Several years ago, I discovered a shop on Etsy that made lovely pieces for the home and garden using reclaimed wood. To this day, Andrew’s Reclaimed is still one of my favorite Etsy stops.

Andrew and his wife, Melissa work as a team in this wood working business. Every piece they sell is recycled, re-purposed wood. And they give a lot of attention to the details so that each piece is durable and beautiful.

Everything is hand created in their Washington workshop and they are giving old wood, new life.

I have several items from Andrew and Melissa in my garden, but my favorite is the Mason Bee house. People comment on it every time they see it. And although I have yet to have any little bee families move in, it still serves as a good bug home to many of the critters in my backyard.

But they also carry bird feeders, soap dishes and these cool cedar seed trays.

These trays are like the ones our grandparents might have used, but lighter and stiffer. They are an investment for sure, but by using these you eliminate the use of those plastic seed starting trays that end up in the landfill. They last forever if cared for properly AND you can use them for other things in the “off season”. You have to admit that they would look pretty awesome stacked up in the greenhouse. The more you use them, the better they look.

Be sure to “heart”  Andrew’s Reclaimed on your Etsy account so that you can check in from time to time. They are always adding new pieces.
