If you have ever been to one of my canning demonstrations, you know that I always like to demonstrate my signature drink - The Jamtini. It is a delicious martini made with homemade jam, vodka and fruit juice.
Jamtinis are easily personalized by changing up the jam or fruit juice used and they are a simple, yet elegant way to use up your homemade preserves.
Last year, I created a “How-to Make a Jamtini” video for our PBS show, Growing A Greener World and it was big hit. Lot’s of people came up with their own versions from their own pantry. Fun stuff! (The video is below)
Well today, I want to share a new version of my jamtini made with low-sugar peach jam!
I made this peach version because I am finally hitting the end of last year’s amazing peach jam reserves and I really love how the tree-ripened flavor of the peaches shines though.
You can follow the jamtini recipe below exactly or you can substitute your own jam flavor and it is still fantastic. I even have a jamtini infographic to help you along.

The Basics of Making a Jamtini
It is so simple. Just watch the 2 minute video above on making a strawberry version. Looks delicious, right? Here are the step-by-step instructions for any martini:
The Peach Jamtini Recipe
This seriously tastes like a slice of peach pie to me…with alcohol of course! I use a non-carbonated, canned peach nectar from the health food store, but you can substitute any fruit juice you wish. I also include whole cloves and a cinnamon stick in the shaker and they can be used to create multiple jamtinis, if you wish. My jam is low-sugar. If you are using a high sugar (or store bought – eek!) jam, you may want to eliminate the sugar syrup. I serve my jamtini in canning jars because…well, it just seems appropriate. But of course any glass would work.
- 1 slice of a peach – finely chopped (optional)
- 1 oz peach nectar
- 1 oz. simple syrup (see note)
- 2 oz. vodka
- 1 heaping spoonful low-sugar peach jam (or something similar)
- 1/2 tsp. whole cloves
- 1 piece of a cinnamon stick
- 1/2 pint jam jar (as your serving glass)
- club soda
- slice of fresh peach as a garnish (optional)
1) In a cocktail shaker, muddle a few pieces of a chopped fresh peach. This is an optional step, but really does enhance the flavor if you have a fresh peach handy.
2) Add the peach nectar, simple syrup, vodka, jam, spices and some ice to the shaker. Place on the lid and shake. Then, shake some more! It can take awhile to break up the jam.
3) Add ice to your serving glass and strain the cocktail into the glass.
4) Add a splash of club soda to top it off. Garnish with a peach slice and serve.
Simple Syrup: Despite being expensive in the stores, simple syrup is REALLY inexpensive to make yourself. It is just a boiled solution of water and sugar. I use equal portions of each for cocktails. It just needs to be made ahead of time and allowed to cool before using. In a small pan, combine at least 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil to dissolve the sugar, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely before making cocktails.
