Homegrown Finds & Shares

December 4, 2012 · 4 comments

As I interview and research for our TV show and my other writing projects, I am always stumbling upon some really great tidbits of information on homesteading and gardening – many of which we can use in our own backyards.

Starting today, I will occasionally share “best of” collections of those finds.

There’s some great information here!

Today’s Theme – Unique Chicken Coops!

1) Okay – so we may not use this ourselves, but I thought it was pretty cool that someone was selling a moveable coop made from a 1957 Chevy Pickup Truck…ON EBAY!

2) Here is a cute moveable coop that looks like a teardrop trailer. Clever!

3) Talk about recycle! Someone made a brooder box from an old dresser.

4) And in the same spirit, someone else made a coop from an armoire.

5) I may have a green roof on my chicken coop, but this one has a full planter bed: A whole tutorial on how to make a green roof chicken coop. Nice!

Those are too cute! And the green roof chicken coop is wonderfully double duty. We’ll have to keep that in mind if we ever need a new fowl hut. :)

The brooder box from the dresser is a real winner. No carpentry skills required.
