Forage LA, a restaurant in the Silverlake area of Southern California, is augmenting its menu with the help of volunteer urban harvesters. Every Sunday, the restaurant puts out a call for a type of food (exotic fruit, lemons, lavender) and anyone who has extra can bring theirs by! If for instance you have some tasty lime leaves you could donate, then the chefs will use them in a dish, and you'll get your name on the menu for a little while. (What I want to know is, does it mean a free appetizer?)
Even if you don't have extra, you should drop by and see what Forage is creating this week. Their menu sure looks tasty. Forage LA is located at 3823 W. Sunset Blvd.

Darn…I wish I live in L.A.
The LA Times or LA Weekly just ran a story this week saying that Forage can no longer accept homegrown food because it’s against health code in california.
So no more Foraging in Forage.
I was wondering about the health code considerations. Although I think most gardeners do a great job with their food, I’ve run into many vegetable gardeners that don’t understand why you can’t put those handy systemic pesticides on your food if you wait a few days to harvest.
Wow! That is so cool!
You know, I was wondering about the health code stuff too!! I was thinking that the restaurant would have no idea how that stuff was raised.
Well…it makes sense that they would be prohibited from doing this.
Oh well…it was a nice idea!!
