Grow Your Salad Right in the Colander!

August 12, 2009 · 4 comments

What could be more appropriate than growing lettuce right in a kitchen colander?

Lettuce

I found this great salad garden by Kerry Michaels over at About.com.

It really is a simple process to recreate a similar “Salad-in-a-colander”. Kerry Michaels gives all the details in the post. It is easy-peasy.

All you need is a a colander, some window screen and some seeds. I see old colanders all the time at garage sales. Time to pick up a few!

And wouldn’t this be cute as a hanging pot?

My friend Michelle already went out and bought a JUMBO colander at a garage sale last weekend. She is going to plant it with edibles. It will be fabulous!

I just hope she can lift it once it is planted!

Hi -Thanks! What I fabulous idea to hang it up. I never thought of that. It would look really cool if you hung it with clear wire, so it looked as if it were floating.

I’ve also done colanders with flowers – million bells look really great.
