Apparently, some movie stars garden in the nude.

NakedGardening I have lived in Los Angeles my whole life. I have grown up seeing celebrities in grocery stores, swap meets, little league games, restaurants. Many of my friends and relatives work "in the industry" and I have even had a few celebrity neighbors.

So I really thought I had heard it all when it came to strange things celebrities do.

Until this…

In an interview with Health Magazine, Alicia Silverstone details how she enjoys gardening in the buff.

Obviously, she doesn't grow a lot of roses…or cactus, for that matter. Or perhaps she doesn't really garden that much at all.

But I still wonder…How much make-up do you think they use to cover up those gardening scratches and sunburns on her private parts?

“…gardening scratches and sunburns on her private parts.”

I’d garden nude in a heartbeat if I lived further out in the country. I’m reminded of Adam and Eve in Eden, before the fall. And I don’t think I’d compromise my “private parts” in such a way as to allow scratches and/or sunburn. If those parts were allowed to “harden off” so to speak, they’d be tough enough to take a scratch or two anyway.

Good point TC.

We get a lot of sun out here and garden year round. As for myself, I get covered in scratches due to roses, etc. I’ve worn a bathing suit top many times and regretted it later when I had scratches all over my back.

And with Alicia’s fair skin, I’m surprised she doesn’t fry like a pancake with our intense sun out here. I doubt seriously that she has “hardened off” areas. But who am I to say?

I guess it all depends upon what type of gardening you are doing…seed planting, re-potting, general digging chores, etc. would probably not be a problem. I agree.

Yeah, I’m sure it depends on the type of gardening one does, but I find it hard to believe that anyone can garden in the buff. I wear a short sleeve shirt and long pants, and what little area of me that is exposed gets covered with bug bites, scratches, and sunburn…and I’m not even the one doing the “tough” gardening (dh takes care of whacking brambles and tackling thistly/thorny things).

I’m with ya Teresa.

I’m not a prude and I honestly don’t give a hoot about nudity. It’s just that the way I garden, I wouldn’t fair very well if I wasn’t a bit covered up! So when I read this, I thought to myself, “What kind of nut can do that unscathed?”…but perhaps she is just deadheading dahlias or something equally “safe”.

No worries there, right?

LOL! Yeah, no worries with deadheading flowers with no thorns. ;)

She must not do the same kind of gardening that I do, which involves plopping down in the middle of a muddy plot and pulling weeds. I would never come clean!

I Wonder, is it irony or fate that put Nude Gardening right after National Honeybee Day on your blog. The two don’t seem to blend well together if you ask me.

Seriously, Theresa, I enjoy reading your blog. Your fresh approach to blogging, and your serious approach to gardening blend together much better than Skin and Bees.

I hope you don’t mind, but I nominated you for the Superior Scribbler Award.

You can read the details here: http://scholastic-scribe.blogspot.com/2008/10/200-this-blings-for-you.html

Or by visiting my blog and following the links there.

Wow Troy…I go on vacation for a few days and come back to an award! Thanks. It will take me a few days to do my own nominating, but I accept the honor.

And Troy, you crack me up with the comment about my posting order. Very funny. I had not even noticed that.

Thanks Troy.
