In her recent interview with Vanity Fair, Cate Blanchette discusses why she is not the typical actress. She talked about how she does not intend to have plastic surgery and that she stays out of most of the "drama" of Hollywood lives.
But I loved what she said toward the end of the interview…When asked what she would do when her career slows down a bit, she said, "I think I just want to garden–or kill some plants, in my case."
Now THAT is where the interview should have taken off! What type of gardening? Where does she garden? What are her favorite books, garden writers, nurseries? Has she ever thought about raising chickens???
But alas, the interviewer missed that opportunity…Obviously, the interviewer was NOT a gardener.

Obviously not.~~Dee
And obviously we hope someone somewhere will rectify this oversight! Always loved this actress.
Perhaps you can interview her for an article about gardening! Hm, an article on Hollywood gardeners would be interesting!
Dee & Ilona – Thanks for stopping by. I think she is an awesome actress too.
Teresa – Ahhh! Great idea – I do live in Los Angeles after all. But I don’t know of any other gardening movie stars. Do you?
She’s been a favorite actress of mine for a long time, and this just solidifies her position. Thanks for sharing!

I think if there were more interviews with celebrities and their gardening efforts, there would be more gardening by more people throughout the country. We’re a celebrity consumed nation and that’d be one way to reach many people. Once in a while in a shelter magazine you’ll find one. I remember seeing the garden of Tim Curry. It was great!
Amy – I agree. Knowing that she gardens makes her even better!
Jim – Being in LA, I know a few people “in the industry” and have a few “connections”. So, I am putting the word out that fans are craving info on the gardens of stars. I will let you know if I get any bites! I would love to see more private gardens of the stars!
I don’t know anything about any movie stars, let alone their gardening habits, but if I ever hear that George Clooney gardens, I’ll knock you over to interview him. LOL! Just kidding!!
